Science – Forces
Year 5 have been studying forces in science, looking at the force of gravity acting between the Earth and falling objects. In this lesson they were identifying the effect of air resistance. They designed their own parachutes to see which would be the most air resistant.
Big Foot Theatre Company and Shakespeare
Big Foot Theatre Company came in to school in January and did workshops with our Key Stage 2 pupils bringing to life A Midsummer Night’s Dream. Here are some photos of Year 5 enjoying dramatising parts of the play.
Year 5 have been doing dissolving experiments to see what factors affect dissolving.
In a recent PSHE lesson the children talked about stereotypes, how they can affect our lives and how we can overcome them. The children created their own statements to challenge common stereotypes and took photos of themselves with them.
Year 5 Computing and Enquiry Curriculum
Year 5 have been extending their computing skills whilst learning about rivers in Enquiry Curriculum. In January they programmed Sphero to plot the course of a river downstream.

Year 5 Waterloo Class Assembly
Miss Dobson was hugely impressed by Year 5 Waterloo’s assembly in December. They gave a consummate performance, demonstrating their extensive knowledge of the Tudors.
Trip to the National Portrait Gallery
Year 5 visited the National Portrait Gallery in November to look at Tudor portraits, find out more about them and to have a go at sketching their own. This ties in with their current Enquiry topic which is the Tudors.
